A little Bit About QC

About Quilters' Connection
Quilters' Connection is a dynamic and diverse group of quilters and quilt enthusiasts whose stated purpose is to preserve and enhance the art and skill of quilting.
There are monthly meetings featuring guest speakers, a group quilting project, or a "show and tell" of members' work done in the workshops.
At each meeting, there are fabric and notions sales tables and networking about quilt events.
Lectures and workshops are given by our own or visiting experts.
Our monthly newsletter, Quiltations, is a source of information about Quilters' Connection and local quilting events.
The 2019 Quilters' Connection Quilt Show Creative Expressions in Fabric featured the raffle quilt "Conduit" - designed and crafted by QC member G. Wong
and more than 100 quilts by our members. The Boutique of member works and the challenge mini-quilts by our members were well received.
Our 40th Anniversary Quilt Show "Quilters' Connection Celebrates 40 Years of Fabulous Quilting" was the prior show - one that continued bring guests from across the country.
Members throughout the guild are involved and the success is shared by local merchants though our patronage and theirs.

Community Service
Quilters' Connection is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our primary community service has been through our Comfort Quilt projects, which are made by the members and donated to places of need in the Greater Boston area and beyond. Please see our Community page for a full description of Comfort Quilt achievements.

QC Members Achievements
The list of achievements by QC members is long. Our members travel the globe to teach and to exhibit their works in shows and galleries. Many have published books and journal articles, and a few are grant recipients from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Massachusetts Council for the Arts and Humanities.
Near the New England Quilt Museum in Lowell, MA, the Brush Gallery (among others) exhibits special works by Quilters' Connection members.
In 2001, Visions and Voices:The History of a Quilt Guild, was published. This book, by QC member Verena Rybicki, documents the history and growth of the guild through the eyes and experiences of members in our changing times and communities.
See Member Websites for a flavor of quilting by our members.

The Present
Such diverse talent makes Quilters' Connection an exciting organization in which to participate. During 2020 - 2021 - February 2022, Quilters' Connection has gone virtual using Zoom for both programs and workshops. Otherwise, monthly meetings are held from September through May at St. James Armenian Church, 465 Mt. Auburn St., Watertown, MA 02472, Massachusetts. Membership is open to all.
You can Sign up via the link at the top of each page.

The Past
The Quilters' Connection was founded in 1977 by Linda Genovese, Jane Phillips and Nancy Nevola, sought to bring together people who shared a love of quilting. In just four years QC grew to 250 active members. Quickly we outgrew our meeting space and moved to a larger hall. By 1985 the waiting list to join was long enough to enable the founding of a sister guild, the thriving Rising Star Quilters.
QC's membership includes members throughout New England as well as internationally. Growing and needing more space QC moved again in 2005 with 400 members. In 2015 QC moved to Bentley University in Waltham, MA.
Due to rising costs, QC has now returned to Watertown, where the number of members attending is expected to grow again. We are centrally located to ease drive time and close to public transportation.

Quiltations is Quilters' Connection's newsletter which contains important information about the guild that is of interest to our members. This includes things that are happening in the quilting world, introduction of members, notices, a listing of events, information on upcoming speakers and workshops, updates on comfort quilts, and information relating to our fund raisers such as auction and quilt show.
